Who the project was for:
The Waitsia Gas Project is located ~16km southeast of Dongara and 350km north of Perth. The project unlocks significant value for the Mid West region and the State of Western Australia by providing local jobs, community benefits and opportunities for local business.
The project has been developed over a staged roll-out and includes the construction of the Waitsia Gas Plant, which will increase the output of the Waitsia Gas Field to 280 TJ/day with the combined output of the Xyris Production Facility.
The Waitsia Gas Field is a free-flowing reservoir situated on privately owned agricultural land. The Waitsia Gas Project is a joint venture with non-operator partner Beach Energy, providing significant opportunity in the Mid-West Region.
Industry:
Oil & Gas – Gas Project Accommodation
Location:
Dongara, Western Australia
Purpose:
Provide access paths & walkways for temporary demountable accommodation facilities.

Problem:
- High volume of product supply needed for collaborative install from third party.
- Product needed to be easy to remove and re-use in the future as the accommodation facilities on the camp are temporary.
- The environment is harsh and dirty, so a solution was needed to reduce dirt transfer from workers feet to rooms.
- Area prone to flash storms, so the solution needed to be suitable to reduce risk of slips for users and mud build up.
- Noise reduction required for final walkways due to nightshift workers.
1. Reduce:
- Noise needed reduction for workers.
- Reduce OSH risks.
- Reduce mess created from dirt and weather in foot transfer.
2. Design:
- Choosing a grit that would be suitable for the wet slip conditions and remain tidy in appearance.
- Sits above the ground with minimised risk of water logging or debris build up.
- Needs to be designed in a manner that can be “packed away” when done using and transferred to next site when needed at low cost and ease.
3. Longevity:
- Make sure the new structures withstand the weather and outdoor environment exposure.
- Withstand foot traffic with heavy work boots and frequent suitcase rolling, etc.

Solutions:
Design:
- The discussion was had about the practicality of FRP, how quick it is to manufacture, freight and install, plus the long lifespan and noise reduction it can create.
- Selected colours and grit.
Install:
- Install was done collaboratively by a third party who we communicated with throughout the process.
- Clips supplied also.
- We had a quick transportation of product due to its lightness.
The Future:
- When the project is over and the accomodation is removed from site, the FRP flooring is just as quick to take apart as it was to put together, plus light and easy to transport, reducing freight costs.
- This product will be reused later down the track for future camp flooring projects.

Project Outcome:
We refurbished the donga access floorings in a quick manner and created a safer and clean environment for the users.
- Meets compliance standards.
- The strength of the flooring shows much less wear potential.
- The noise reduction is significant to alternative products.
- Utility workers will see cleaner rooms due to less dirt transfer from feet.
- Quick installation from third party, with no compromise on quality.
- Reduced OHS Risk Rating.
- Future take-apart and transport when required will be simple and less costly for the client.
Delivery:
- The delivery of the product was a large quantity, however a much lower cost in freight due to the products light weight.
Install:
- The install was succesfully completed by the third part with our support.
Withstand:
- The product is beyond tough enough to withstand the environments conditions and use from person traffic.
